There are a number of things to do during your first week at the university. It is highly recommended that you meet with you department secretary and supervisor as soon as possible. They will be able to best direct you in what needs to be done, as well as providing you with a great deal of useful information. It is best to email and arrange a meeting time with your supervisor as many professors tend to be out-of-office throughout the day.

The WatCard is your student identification. It has your name and student number, can be used as a debit card on campus and some off-campus locations. It also serves as your library card (to sign out books and journals), a means of booking rooms at the SLC or gym equipment at CIF or PAC, entry pass to events such as Bomber Wednesdays, Halloween Dances, etc. free of charge. You can obtain or reprint your WatCard at the WatCard office on the lower level of the SLC. The amount of money (flex dollars) can be refilled at the WatCard office, Libraries, or online using a debit or credit card. If you would like to submit your own photo for the WatCard, you can visit their website and follow the instructions there.

The UHIP (University Health Insurance Plan) is mandatory for all international students and employees, and it covers all dependents. You must visit the Human Resources (HR) office to arrange for the coverage to come into effect; the cost is included in your student fees.
