For those who enjoy locally grown produce and freshly baked goods, there are a number a few places to make such purchases. Students at the university in conjunction with Food Services organize the UW Farm Market two or three times a month between spring and fall. For this term’s times and dates refer to the link below. You can also visit the Waterloo Farmers and Crafters’ Market, which happens every Thursday between May and October at the Waterloo Square. Another great place for local produce and crafts is the St. Jacob’s Market, the world’s largest year-round farmer’s market. Its open every Thursday and Saturday throughout the year, as well as Tuesdays during the summer months.

During the spring and summer season many of the farms, located on the outskirts of Waterloo, offer “Pick Your Own Strawberries” (or raspberries). In the fall season some of the same farms offer Pumpkins Patches that you can choose a pumpkin from, as well as various other activities such as wagon rides during special events.
